Running Vacation?

Okay, so I’m going to give you a bunch of excuses. I went on vacation last week with my family. I brought all my stuff for running. I never ran.

I did, however, walk a few hundred miles through the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, so the week wasn’t an entire loss. But, man, it is easy not to run when you’re enjoying your vacation.

Now I’m back. Actually, I got back Saturday morning. But the whole family was tired. I rested. Then Sunday came, and I decided to mow my lawn, fertilize, you know, get a little work down outside.

What about Monday? Well, it was my first day back to work after a vacation. I wanted to be early.

Tuesday, you ask? I set my alarm for an early wake up call, woke up, looked at my phone, and it was raining. Oh, well, maybe Wednesday.

Today is Wednesday. I set my alarm. I got up. I ran 2.85 miles. Even though I have a horrible cough (excuses, cough), I still ran. Granted, I probably hacked up several pieces of lung, and I had some not-so-good breathing issues, but I still ran.

Now I’m terribly behind on my 500 mile goal for the year. I’m up to 107 miles, but that still leaves a lot to go. I now have to average 11.13 miles per week. This is much harder than I thought, but I’m not giving up yet.

Happy running!
