Half a year down, almost half the distance

Well, it’s been 26 weeks, 182 days, 6 months, and I’m almost half way through my goal. My goal to run 500 miles in 2015 has been a challenge, certainly filled with ups and downs, but I’m proud to say I’m just about on track.

47% of 500 miles

I’ve been running about 15 miles a week for the last few weeks and it has really made a difference. If I can keep up this pace over the summer (through September at least), I’ll add two additional weeks worth of runs each month. That means that come the end of September, I’ll have an additional 60 miles. I should be at about 420 miles at that point, leaving me 3 months to run the final 80 (or only about 6 miles per week).

Running lately has felt pretty good. No shin problems to speak of and I’ve achieved a higher level of endurance. I’ve also been dieting lately (back to the old South Beach plan) as well as doing additional exercises like crunches and push-ups. Overall my general health has been much better and (other than the occasional soreness) I’ve felt a lot better too. For awhile I was getting really nervous about being able to achieve this goal, but the last few weeks have made it seem possible.

I’m almost halfway there, and I’ve got the motivation to keep going. Wish me luck.

Happy Running!
